Ferry Flights Citation II SP Mexico to Pretoria was a true test of skill and perseverance. The journey was fraught with challenges, starting with the lack of critical communication systems such as CPDLC and HF radios, and the absence of 8.33 kHz frequency spacing through Europe. To make matters worse, there were major mechanical issues with the left wing and engine, as well as intermittent problems with the radios and ILS navigation system.
Once I reached the United States, the situation escalated further with a total failure of the horizontal gyro, compromising the aircraft’s navigation. Despite these setbacks and many more that occurred along the way, I remained determined to complete the mission. After navigating countless obstacles, I successfully delivered the aircraft to its destination in Pretoria, with only a five-day delay.
